The University is actively promoting the upward mobility and horizontal development opportunities for outstanding staff.  For this reason, the University continued to organize the Professional Development and Enhancement Program for the Outstanding Administrative Staff during 3 – 6 June 2019.  A group of ten awardees of Outstanding Administrative Staff Award 2018 joined the study program to visit the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.  The delegation visited two top-notch universities in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, one of the biggest Chinese high-tech companies, a comprehensive cultural industry group and appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage in the Greater Bay Area.

A series of visiting spots brought a thorough understanding of the Greater Bay Area, with the National Supercomputer Center which is located on the East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University and Sun Yat-sen University South Campus as the starting points.  Our delegation comprehended about the operation of the supercomputer namely Tianhe-2 in the National Supercomputer Center.  A campus tour to Sun Yat-sen University South Campus was arranged to learn about the historical background and the evolution of Sun Yat-sen University.  In addition, they also gained an in-depth knowledge of Foshan and Guangzhou’s historical and cultural development by visiting the Foshan Ancestral Temple, Foshan Lingnan World, the Canton Tower and the Guangzhou Pearl River Cruise.

Another highlight was the visit to two renowned companies, namely the Huawei Shenzhen Bantian Head Quarters and Artron Art Centre in Shenzhen.  The representative of Huawei Group shared about the history and milestones, explained the culture of Huawei, the global business development plan and direction for domestic enterprises, as well as the application of artificial intelligence technology in the daily life.  The next stop was Artron Art Centre in Shenzhen, their delegate shared the art industry development with professional service and experience of quality products by integrated application of IT, advanced digital science and innovative crafts and materials.

The final stop Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen presented to our delegation about the curriculum and pedagogy, campus development and student life.  Lastly, a tour at Cryo-electron microscope laboratory, Center for Computational Science and Engineering and Runyang Stadium were organized.

Through these visits and bench-marking exercise, the delegates have broadened their horizons and enhanced their job-related skills.  The program brought them an in-depth understanding of the remarkable high-tech industries and the development of Universities in Mainland China that they believe would contribute to the development of UM in the near future.

大學積極為優秀的人員提高向上流動及橫向發展的機會。為此，一如往年，大學於2019年6月3日至6日繼續為年度傑出行政員工獎得獎者舉辦專業發展和提升計劃。共十名「2018年度傑出行政人員獎」得獎者赴粵港澳大灣區進行學習交流。期間於廣州及深圳訪問了兩所一流大學，參觀了中國最大規模之一的高科技公司，一間綜合文化產業集團以及大灣區之歷史文化導賞。

本次計劃之探訪安排內容豐富充實，代表團先考察位於廣州中山大學東校區的國家超級計算機中心，再參觀中山大學南校區。中山大學代表介紹了國家超級計算中心的天河二號超級計算機系統運作及中山大學南校區的歷史背景和演變過程。此外，他們還參觀了佛山祖廟，佛山嶺南新天地，廣州塔和夜遊珠江紅船，深入了解佛山和廣州的歷史文化發展。

除此之外，代表團亦到訪了兩家享負盛名的公司，包括華為深圳坂田總部和深圳雅昌藝術中心。華為代表分享了其歷史過程和里程碑，展示了華為文化，國內企業全球化的發展規劃和方向及人工智慧技術如何深度應用在日常生活中。下一站是深圳雅昌藝術中心，其代表闡述了如何為藝術行業提供智慧化的藝術資料及資訊科技服務綜合解決方案，為藝術追隨者構建數位化藝術體驗。

最後一站為深圳南方科技大學。其團隊分享了大學的課程與教學、校園發展及校園生活。代表團更參觀了冷凍電鏡實驗室、科學與工程計算中心及潤楊體育館。

通過是次學習交流，得獎者們除了增廣見聞及提升工作技能外，他們亦定必獲益良多。深入了解讓人矚目的科技產業及內地高校發展情況後，相信他們將來能為大學的發展作出貢獻。
